Who we are

IGCSE Buddy (app.myigcsebuddy.in and myigcsebuddy.in) is a study app for Cambridge IGCSE students, their teachers and schools. When this policy says "we" it means the IGCSE Buddy team. You can reach us at [email protected] or through the contact form.

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash), or the name and email Google shares with us if you use "Continue with Google". Your role (student, teacher or admin), your school or class code and the subjects you take.

Study data you create: topic progress, papers you log and the marks you score, practice answers, focus-timer sessions, planner tasks and exam dates, and messages from your teachers.

Payment status: if you buy Premium, our payment processor tells us whether the payment succeeded and when your plan ends. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.

Contact-form messages: the name, email and message you send us.

Why we use it

To run your account and show you your own progress; to mark practice answers; to let your school's teachers see the progress of students in their class; to process Premium payments; and to reply to messages you send us. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

Who can see your data

If you join a school or class with a school code, that school's teachers (and our admin) can see your progress, logged papers, marks and study time. Students cannot see each other's data.

We use these service providers to run the app, and they process data only on our behalf: MongoDB Atlas (database), Render (API hosting), Cloudflare (web hosting and network), Amazon Web Services (past-paper file storage), Google (sign-in, and the Gemini AI model that reads uploaded photos and helps mark answers), where it is switched on, Anthropic (an AI model that helps check written answers), and Razorpay (payments).

Students under 18

Most IGCSE students are under 18. If you are, please use IGCSE Buddy with your parent or guardian's permission. A parent or guardian can contact us at any time to see, correct or delete their child's data.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and study data while your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account we remove it from our live database; backups age out within about 30 days. Contact-form messages are kept for up to a year. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires.

Cookies and local storage

The app keeps you signed in using your browser's local storage. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it. Email [email protected] or use the contact form, and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
